How to make a fake WhatsApp conversation
ChatCanvas guide
What you are making
A fake WhatsApp conversation is a picture or a video of a chat you wrote. It is for a meme, a storyboard, a deck, or a demo. It does not send a message, and it is not connected to WhatsApp.
ChatCanvas is a free browser tool. You build the thread, then export a PNG or a video of the messages being typed. No account. Nothing is uploaded.
How to make one
Open the WhatsApp generator and replace the starter messages with your own. Set the contact name. If more than two people are talking, turn it into a group chat and name each person.
Set the ticks on each of your messages: one grey tick for sent, two grey for delivered, blue for read. Blue ticks are the beat most screenshots are missing.
Choose light or dark to match where the image will sit. Export a PNG for a still, or an MP4 if the joke needs the messages to arrive one by one.
What reads as a real thread
Keep lines short. Real chats arrive in bursts, not paragraphs. Put the time on the messages, and don't give every line a perfect reply — someone usually just reacts.
Use it for fiction and demos. Do not put a real person's name on a chat and present it as something they sent.
