A Slack thread for a product demo
ChatCanvas guide
Why a mock thread beats a real screenshot
A real Slack screenshot is full of customer names, internal links, and a sidebar you cannot crop cleanly. A mock thread says only the part the demo needs.
ChatCanvas builds that thread in the browser and exports a PNG for the slide or an MP4 that reveals the messages. No workspace login, and nothing is uploaded.
How to write the thread
Open the Slack generator and keep it to five or six messages. One problem, one reply, one decision. A standup, a support handoff, or a short incident all fit.
Name the people, not 'User 1'. Give the channel a specific name. The subject of the conversation should be readable in the first line, because that is all a slide audience will read.
Export PNG if it is going in a deck. Export MP4 if the demo is a video and you want the replies to land in order.
Keep the company fictional
Invent the product name and the outage. The feeling of a Friday incident is the joke. A claim about a real company's outage is a different thing, and this tool is not for that.
