Terms of Use
Last updated: 5 August 2026
1. About these terms
These Terms of Use govern your use of the ChatCanvas website and editor (“the service”, “we”, “us”, “our”). By using the service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
2. Who we are
ChatCanvas (chatcanvas.studio) is a trading name of a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. We provide a browser-based conversation mockup studio for creating realistic chat and email mockups for creative, educational, product and marketing purposes.
3. Acceptable use
ChatCanvas is intended for fiction, demos, storyboards, education, UX prototypes and marketing mockups. You agree not to use the service to:
- Impersonate real people or organisations in order to deceive, defraud or harass
- Create or distribute content for scams, phishing, social engineering or fraud
- Violate any applicable law, or anyone’s rights (including privacy and publicity)
- Misrepresent fabricated conversations as authentic private messages of real people
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to, disrupt or overload the service
You are solely responsible for how you use exports (PNG, video or otherwise) created with ChatCanvas.
4. Use of the website
You may use this website for lawful purposes. You agree not to:
- Use the website for any unlawful purpose or in breach of these terms
- Scrape, copy or republish substantial parts of the site except as permitted below
- Misrepresent your identity when contacting us
5. Intellectual property
Unless otherwise stated, the design, code and branding of ChatCanvas are our property or licensed to us. You may use the editor and keep the mockups you create. You may not reproduce or exploit the ChatCanvas product itself commercially without our prior written permission.
Third-party names, logos and trademarks (including WhatsApp, iMessage, Instagram, Telegram, Messenger, X, Slack, Gmail, Microsoft Teams and others) remain the property of their respective owners. ChatCanvas is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by those companies. Skins are independent recreations for mockup purposes only.
6. Local processing and analytics
Conversations you build are processed in your browser and may be saved in local storage on your device. They are not uploaded to our servers as part of normal editing or export. We use privacy-focused, cookieless analytics to understand aggregate site usage — see our Privacy Policy for details.
7. Enquiries
Submitting the contact form is an enquiry only and does not create a contract. How we handle information you send is described in our Privacy Policy.
8. No warranties
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. Whilst we take reasonable care to keep the site working, we make no warranties about accuracy, uninterrupted availability, or pixel-perfect fidelity to third-party apps, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service, or from how you use exported mockups. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud.
10. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date shows when they were last revised. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute relating to them or to the service.
